The certification has made us much better businesspeople. And I’m very thankful that we have a roadmap to say, “If we follow this, we will get better.” And then lo and behold, you follow it, and you get better. And one of the things CSIA says is, “You get 10 ideas, and you give one.” And it is. It’s organized support for our industry.
If you’re a new company, and you’re thinking about should I become a CSIA member? Should I go through the certification process? It’s very powerful. It helps you look at your business. And it’s a great way to show the outside world that you’re real. But don’t underestimate the benefit that you get from networking and the people that you’ll meet, and how they can help you grow your business.
Interstates has been tied in with CSIA for a long time. There’s a saying often thrown around at the CSIA conference, “You give one idea, you get 10 in return.” Interstates bought into that early on and after having been at Interstates 11 years, I’ve personally seen it. We’ve been CSIA Certified 8 times since the early 2000s. The Best Practices make us better, and we continue to see value and invest in them.
We put a lot of effort into reorganizing the company to follow the CSIA Best Practices. It was a journey started when we joined CSIA. We started immediately improving our processes, and I have to say that our company today is very different. This was possible only with the support of all the CSIA members. I believe no other community has the same willingness to share information and experience and help each other to become better. Becoming Certified is not an easy task, but it’s worth it. Getting Certified was an important milestone, but not the end of the trip. There’s no limit in improving the best practices adoption to improve the business.
